Five kinds of work, one standard
Every garment gets the same treatment: measured properly, opened where it needs opening, and finished by hand where a machine would show.
01 — Bridal
Bridal & Wedding Dresses
A wedding gown has to be right once, on one day, in photographs that last. That is a different kind of pressure from ordinary alterations, and it is work we take seriously.
Gowns come to us to be taken in, let out, shortened and restructured. Beading and lace cannot simply be sewn through — they have to be lifted, worked around and put back so the alteration disappears into the original design.
What's included
- Taking in and letting out through bodice, waist and hip
- Hemming with the shoes you will wear on the day
- Bustles built to suit the train and the fabric weight
- Beading and lace lifted and reset by hand
- Strap, sleeve and neckline adjustment
- Bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride dresses
Turnaround: book your first fitting two to three months ahead. Bridal work usually needs two or three fittings.
02 — Tailoring
Suits & Formalwear
Most suits off the rack fit one part of you and compromise everywhere else. Tailoring is what closes that gap.
Sleeve length and trouser hem are the easy part. The work that actually changes how a jacket looks is in the waist, the shoulders and the sleeve head — and that is where thirty years of construction experience earns its keep.
What's included
- Jacket waist suppression and body taper
- Shoulder adjustment with the sleeve head reset
- Sleeve shortening from the cuff or the head
- Trouser tapering, waist adjustment and hemming
- Waistcoat and three-piece adjustment
- Tuxedo and black-tie fitting
Turnaround: standard suit alterations are often ready the same week. Ask about timing when you drop the garment off.
03 — Reproduction
Clothing Reproduction
Sometimes the garment you love is past saving. That does not have to be the end of it.
We take the original apart or pattern from it directly, then rebuild the same piece in new cloth. It is the answer for a jacket that has worn through, a dress that no longer exists in stores, or a garment with sentimental value that has simply run out of life.
What's included
- Pattern drafted from your existing garment
- Fabric guidance to match weight and drape
- Fit corrected during reproduction, not just copied
- Detailing, pockets and linings rebuilt to match
Turnaround: varies with complexity. Bring the garment in and we will give you a realistic timeline.
04 — Custom
Custom Tailoring
Made to your measurements from the beginning, for the proportions ready-to-wear sizing was never designed to accommodate.
Standard sizing assumes a body shape that most people do not actually have. Custom work starts from your measurements instead of a size chart, which is the difference between a garment you tolerate and one you reach for.
What's included
- Full measurement session and posture assessment
- Pattern drafted specifically for you
- Fittings through construction, not only at the end
- Hand-finishing on collars, cuffs and linings
Turnaround: custom construction takes several weeks and multiple fittings. Plan ahead for a specific occasion.
05 — Repairs
Mending & Repairs
The jacket with the broken zipper. The coat with the torn lining. The trousers with a moth hole right where everyone will see it.
Repairs are done so that the fix is not the first thing anyone notices. Where the damage cannot be made invisible, we will tell you that before we start rather than after.
What's included
- Zipper replacement in jackets, dresses and trousers
- Lining repair and full lining replacement
- Tears, seam splits and worn edges
- Moth holes and small fabric damage
- Button replacement and buttonhole repair
- Seat and stool reupholstery in leather or fabric
Turnaround: most straightforward repairs are quick. Bring the piece in for an honest assessment.
