Why hand-finishing still matters
A machine can close a seam faster than any person. What it cannot do is decide how much ease a particular piece of cloth needs at a particular point on a particular body.
That judgement is the whole trade. It is why two tailors can perform the same alteration and produce garments that hang completely differently. Hand-finishing on a collar, a hem or an armhole gives the fabric room to behave the way it wants to, instead of forcing it flat.
Over thirty years of garment construction, that judgement stops being something you think about and becomes something you simply have. It is the reason a jacket altered here sits flat across the shoulders, and why a bridal hem hangs level all the way round.

How We Work
Honest answers before the needle goes in
Not every garment is worth altering. Some pieces cost more to fix than to replace, and some damage cannot be made invisible no matter who does the work.
You will hear that from us before we start, not after you have paid for it. It costs a little business in the short term and earns a great deal of trust in the long term — which is roughly how a studio stays open for three decades in the same town.
When a garment is worth the work, we will tell you exactly what needs doing, what it will cost, and when it will be ready. Then we do it by that date.
